Past tense (perfekat)
The past tense is formed with the short forms of biti (sam, si, je, smo, ste, su) + a participle ending in -o/-la/-lo/-li/-le: Ja sam išao / išla = I went.
Examples
Bio sam u Beogradu.
I was in Belgrade. (said by a man)
Bila sam u Beogradu.
I was in Belgrade. (said by a woman)
Radili smo ceo dan.
We worked all day.
Tips
- The participle agrees with the subject in gender and number: išao (m), išla (f), išli (pl).
