Može vs. molim: what's the difference?
Može = sure, OK, that works (informal agreement; also used to order: "Može kafa?"). Molim = please (when asking or handing something over). "Molim?" with rising intonation = "Sorry, what did you say?"
Examples
Može jedna kafa?
Could I have a coffee? (in a café)
Molim vas, jedan čaj.
One tea, please.
Molim? Nisam čuo.
Sorry? I didn't hear.
Tips
- "Može" is the universal "yes, sure". "Molim" is for polite requests and for handing something over.
