Why banka → banku
Feminine nouns ending in -a change it to -u in the accusative. So banka becomes banku, pošta becomes poštu, apoteka becomes apoteku.
Examples
Idem u banku.
I'm going to the bank.
Idem u apoteku.
I'm going to the pharmacy.
Vidim poštu.
I see the post office.
Tips
- After u and na with movement ("where to?"), always use the accusative.
